The Hero Generation

Reflecting on the realities of everyday life, I noticed that there is a dichotomy in the events and conditions present in the world today. On the one hand is the positive force that begins with the mindset of success and, on the other, the preconditions for disaster.

Is it the end of the world?

The world is facing its greatest challenges ever: war and famine; economic collapse and environmental destruction; moral degeneration and terrorism abound. And, dare I say, chaos is the new normal and because of these conditions, our children may never see the light of day.

Using the right tools

At the same time, awesome inventions have come to the fore in information technology, science, network building, social responsibility, a thriving social media, and energy generation. We are connected beyond our wildest imaginations and the geniuses have come out into the open to simplify the way things work. We understand more about anything, and everything. The dual-nature of the state of affairs gives rise to a challenge. The challenge of finding the right solutions among the many solutions available and implementing it so that the destructive nature of the situation dissipates. 

This opportunity comes only once in a lifetime

We can either shrink away from the responsibility presented to us or overcome it and fulfill our destiny. Either way we will go through enormous obstacles, but there is only one option: to succeed. In this regard, I believe that we are a transitional generation – a generation that can elevate humanity to the next level. This, however, is dependent on one crucial factor: for us to accept the challenge and rise above the crisis.

For me, this also means that the Hero Generation comes from an inter-generational source. From Baby Boomers to Millennials to Gen X-ers, like me. In practical terms, I believe that what is needed is to participate in positive change (a theme popular these days with the election of President DU30), but it can also be as simple as segregating the garbage or using an eco-bag. At the national sphere, I believe that improving the social and political system is a must for our country to move on, so let’s also focus on our spheres of influence. We cannot change the world on our own, but we can start good practices in our office, homes, or schools. We should also get others involved; the more the merrier.

In the end, since we are all on the same ship, I believe that it comes down to being responsible for one's life and taking care of our fellow men in both little and big ways. For positive change to happen, it has to start with us in fulfilling a better tomorrow, starting today.
